U11 v Town Close

Town Close opened the batting.  Moreton Hall fielded well with Charlie taking a wicket and George taking a brilliant catch off his own ball.  Town Close batted well finishing on 146.  After tea, Ben and I opened the batting but sadly the opposition’s fielding was really good and they quickly took wickets.  Despite the team’s best efforts on the day Moreton Hall suffered a significant defeat. Thank you to Mr Thompson and matron for match tea.

Oliver (cpt.)

We arrived at Town Close in blazing sunshine, keen to cause an upset. I lost the toss and they chose to field first.  James and opened the batting and began well against their opening bowlers.  Then James was bowled and Merlin came in and batted well before he was then bowled.  Tyler and I got a good partnership going even though the run rate was slow.  I supported Tyler well for the last two balls of the 25 overs.  We finished on a final score of 90 for 4.

We finished our match tea and Mr James gave us a motivational team talk and we came back on strong.  Ben opened the bowling and got a wicket on his first ball by catching his own ball.  He then followed it up with two more wickets.  Merlin and Tyler bowled well with Merlin getting two maidens and Tyler getting one.  Despite this their scoreboard kept ticking over and their run rate was high.  Wilf and I bowled well with myself getting one of their batsmen out who was on 42.  They reached our total in the eighteenth over.

Thank you to Mr James for coaching and driving and Town Close for match tea. Man of the match goes to Ben for bowling extremely well and getting three wickets in 7 bowls. Special mention to the team for giving 110% in such hot weather.
