The House Music Festival took place last night. It is always a delightful event and this year was no exception. The adjudicator for the junior competition, Mr Head, praised all the children who took part for their brilliant performances and chose Katy W., (Form V), as the winner who illustrated her natural musicality and produced beautifully nuanced performances with both her flute solo, ‘Fudge Fandango’, and her vocal solo ‘I Dreamed a Dream’. The runner up was Amelia W., (Transition), for her great promise and musicality with her piano solo ‘Boating Lake’.
The evening had a full and varied programme, with some lively performances. Dominic Nunn, the adjudicator, was very impressed by the overall standard and had some valuable advice for our young musicians. Highlights include Maria’s energetic Habanera, Merlin’s robust piano style and possibly the first bass guitar performance at Moreton Hall from Amber. Emma S. took the runner-up prize for her lovely vocal solo, Somewhere, from West Side Story and Lisa won for her piano performance, The Merry-go Round of Life.
Edmund remain the holders of the House Music cup for another year. Congratulations to all involved.
