U13B girls’ hockey v Brookes Cambridge

We started strongly, passing the ball well. Hermanie scored an early goal and then I scored four goals in a row, followed by Pippa, to make it 6-0 at half time. In the second half Brookes Cambridge improved.  Their defence was better organised and we swapped some of our players, including Pippa who played for them. Matilda scored another goal thanks to excellent play by Maria, Teresa and Emma, who were playing in their first match. They were amazing! Well done everybody! The final score was 7-0 to us.

U13 rugby v The Leys

We got to The Leys raring to go for the first match of the season. I lost the toss and they chose to kick.  We started off well with some quick hands to the wing and Edward scoring a try.  They quickly retaliated and scored a try.  They took the kick off quickly and ran down our left wing to score another. After we put in some strong tackles Merlin saw an opportunity, he intercepted the ball and scored.  Our defence was strong but they just managed to get through and score a try.  Following on from that Edward came back strong and scored again.  After a while they slipped through our defence to score again.  Just before half time Wilf ran down the middle and with a clean break he scored. The half time score was 20-20.

After an inspiring team talk from Mr James we were ready for the second half. We started off well with Merlin and Edward both scoring and Tristan just getting tackled before the line.  Following this The Leys scored again but we were determined not to let them get any more tries and we secured this by Edward and I scoring the last two tries to take victory for Moreton Hall.

Thank you Mr James for coaching and The Leys for match tea.

Man of the match goes to Edward for putting in some great tackles and being the highest scorer with special mention to Eric and Tristan for playing in their first rugby match.
