U13 cricket v Barnardiston Hall

We arrived at school on Saturday to play our first match of the season and we all wanted to start with a win.  I won the toss and chose to field first.  Merlin and Ben opened the bowling brilliantly with Merlin fielding his own bowl and getting a run out.  Tyler and I kept the standard up with myself getting three more wickets.  Our fielding then got a bit sloppy and they managed a few fours.  Then their best batsman hit a shot, it went straight to Edward who threw it to Harry who stumped him out.  After that Ben got another run out.  They finished their innings with 125 for 7.  Mr James gave us a good team talk telling us that it would be a difficult score to reach but a perfectly possible one.

James and I opened the batting.  We had a good partnership and were getting lots of runs quickly and managed to get to 60 before I was caught.  Merlin and him were batting well and the runs kept ticking over until Tyler got out.  We needed 4 runs in every over, for the last four overs.  We reached the total with Fergus getting the final run.  In the end we won by 7 wickets.

Thank you to Mr James for coaching and the kitche staff for match tea.  Man of the match goes to Merlin for excellent bowling and batting.

Kit, Captain of cricket
